Experts Draft: Galloway Still Has Value?

June 23, 2008

joey-galloway.jpg After a short hiatus from analyzing the most recent expert draft I participated in , it’s time to get right back to it. There are many interesting issues to discuss, namely 37 year old (soon-to-be, anyway) Joey Galloway being taken at the beginning of the round, with names like Donald Driver, Anthony Gonzalez, Jerricho Cotchery and Vincent Jackson still on the board. Experts Draft: Marvin Falls To Round 6

June 20, 2008

marvin-harrison.jpg One of the biggest questions on the minds of fantasy owners this off-season should honestly be - "when do I swoop in and take Marvin Harrison?" One of the best WRs in recent memory should be available at an all time low price this off-season, after a 2007 campaign riddled with injuries and a 2008 off-season full of off-the-field drama. Still, the 35 year old is a competitor, and will be back to reclaim his spot in fantasy starting line-ups in 2008. Read more

Experts Draft: There’s Value In Round 5

June 19, 2008

calvin-johnson.jpgThroughout our entire experts draft, I’ve been stressing the importance behind waiting until round five to take a quarterback. As you’ll see, there are plenty of top signal callers available at this point in our draft. However, QB isn’t the only position where value can be found, as Detroit’s Calvin Johnson, Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe and Green Bay’s Greg Jennings are all top young WRs who flew off the board in round five. Check out the rest of round four and what we think of Witten being snagged prior to Antonio Gates and Kellen Winslow. Read more

Experts Draft: Roddy White Goes In Rd. 3

June 16, 2008

roddy-white.jpgFalcons WR Roddy White had a breakout third season in 2007, hauling in 83 passes for 1,202 yards and six scores in Bobby Petrino and Hue Jackson’s high flying offense, but will the stat column translate over to 2008 under the much more conservative and run-friendly Mike Smith and Mike Mularkey? We don’t think so, but find out who did, as we analyze the third round of our most recent experts league draft. Read more

reggie-bush-2.jpgRecently, I participated in Fantasy Football Indepth’s expert challenge, where No-Offseason.com went head-to-head with publications like Rotoworld.com, Pro Football Weekly, CBSSports.com, Athlon Sports, FantasyGuru.com, USA Today, Fanball.com and more. Experts Draft: Moss Is Our 1st Choice

June 12, 2008

randy-moss.jpgOne of our favorite parts about June through August is taking part in several seasonal drafts in fantasy football expert leagues. Not only are they highly competitive, but they’re extremely useful in learning about new trends and analyzing different draft strategies and player values. In Fantasy Football Indepth’s expert challenge, No-Offseason.com went head-to-head with publications like Rotoworld.com, Pro Football Weekly, CBSSports.com, Athlon Sports, FantasyGuru.com, USA Today, Fanball.com and more. With the seventh overall choice in the first round, we had a tough decision, but decided to go WR first and roll with New England’s Randy Moss. Read more

How To Handle An Auction Draft

May 20, 2008

brandon-jacobs.jpgI recently participated in a very interesting expert mock auction for an upcoming fantasy football publication and was reminded of some consistent themes that fantasy owners can look for in just about every auction draft. The most glaring one at the end of the night, as Brandon Jacobs went for less money than guys like Vince Young, David Garrard, Chris Chambers, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James and Willie Parker, was that there are always studs who slip through the cracks. Fantasy Owners Need To Wait On Defense

May 18, 2008

brian-urlacher.jpgOver the last few seasons, I’ve noticed a disturbing trend among seasonal fantasy owners. Many of them think it’s incredibly smart to fill out their entire starting line-up - team defense included - prior to drafting reserves. This results in defenses like the Bears, Ravens, Patriots and Chargers flying off the board before guys like Donald Driver, Javon Walker, Laveranues Coles and Tony Scheffler - which is absolutely absurd.
