Walker In Jeopardy - We Love Maroney…

June 17, 2008

By now, you’ve heard what happened to Oakland Raiders WR Javon Walker, one of the NFL’s highest paid pass catchers. Walker and his fantasy owners had high hopes for a comeback season after an injury-riddled 2007 campaign in Denver. QB JaMarcus Russell was reportedly developing solid chemistry with him, and even though head coach Lane Kiffin was concerned about his conditioning, he was all be guaranteed a starting role heading into 2008. Now, he must fight back from an orbital fracture, and a bruised ego. Will he be able to comeback to the field, like former Seahawks FS Ken Hamlin did after a similar incident at a nightclub? Or, will he be done for the season? Read more

Derek Hagan Making Quite An Impression…

June 16, 2008

As we’ve reported a few times this off-season, Derek Hagan continues to make a very positive impression on Miami Dolphins coaches in practice. KFFL says that the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano is extremely happy with Hagan’s progress and work ethic. There appears to be a confidence there that hasn’t been seen before.

Hagan told Harvey Failkov that he’s ready and that his expectations are high for 2008.

We think Hagan will step in and start opposite Ted Ginn. The only issue is that the Dolphins likely won’t pass enough to truly make Hagan a fantasy threat in 2008. Still, he’s a deep sleeper in fantasy trips formats (leagues that require three or more starters at WR).

Karl Dorrell Loves Derek Hagan…

June 8, 2008

Third year WR Derek Hagan is being praised by new Dolphins WRs coach Karl Dorrell. Dorrell is high on Hagan’s, size, speed and athleticism and thinks that he’ll have a serious chance to start in Miami’s offense this year. He’s more likely to become Miami’s third WR at best though, behind Ted Ginn and Ernest Wilford. We’re not has high on Hagan as Dorrell is, due to the fact that he has horrible hands.

In other Miami WR news, Ted Ginn - who Dorrell believes will be Miami’s number one WR - will also remain the team’s primary kick and punt returner in 2008, making him even more valuable in leagues that award points for return yardage.

Tatum Bell Ties The Knot…

June 2, 2008

First Antonio Pierce, now Tatum Bell - is Derek Hagan next?

Lions RB Tatum Bell reportedly got married last weekend, which explains why he was absent from Lions OTAs for a while.

For those of you who didn’t understand the Derek Hagan reference, a Dolphins assistant coach said earlier this off-season that Hagan’s play on the field would improve if he settled down and got married.

We don’t believe a wedding band will help Bell earn significant carries in Detroit this season.

Isn’t Ginn Miami’s Guy?

April 20, 2008

ted-ginn-2.jpgA couple of weeks ago, the Dolphins came out and said that second year WR Ted Ginn would be their go-to, number one WR in 2008. A couple days ago, the Dolphins then came out and said that they’re going to look to select a “number one” WR during this week’s NFL Draft. Well - which is it? Read more
