RB Clinton Portis has battled through about four or five nagging injuries, and QB Jason Campbell hasn’t thrown for more than 232 yards in each of his last five games. Ranking 2008 Rookie WRs

Surprisingly, St. Louis’ Donnie Avery was the first WR selected in the 2008 NFL Draft. The speedy route runner from the University of Houston came out of nowhere to become the 33rd overall pick. Just because he was the first pass catcher taken, doesn’t mean it’ll translate to the stat column in 2008. Limas Sweed, however, was the ninth pass catcher taken, and his fantasy value is looking pretty solid heading into 2008. Each season there’s at least one rookie WR who steps up his game and becomes fantasy worthy in his first season, and believe it or not, there is a rhyme or reason to predicting which one it’ll be. Antwaan Randle El Injury Update…

Redskins WR Antwaan Randle El underwent arthroscopic knee surgery early in May, and is expected to begin running within the next couple weeks. He should be ready by training camp, but the ‘Skins have no reason to rush him back after acquiring Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly in the NFL Draft.
Thomas puts a huge damper on Randle El’s fantasy potential.
Antwaan Randle El Has Knee Surgery…

Redskins WR Antwaan Randle El underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday, but should be ready for Organized Team Activities in a few weeks. Head Coach Jim Zorn was not concerned at all about the procedure.
Could this explain why the ‘Skins took Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft?

Some Holes Are Still Wide Open

While many teams filled various needs during the NFL Draft, and others added depth to positions of strength, fantasy owners were hoping for a few things - the Houston Texans to draft a legit starting RB to replace Ahman Green, the Titans to take a stud WR in round one, the Cowboys to draft a solid future WR prospect and the Bears to take a decent signal caller.
