Back From The Dead - McGahee & Walker
October 22, 2008
I know what you’re thinking, because I’ve been thinking the same thing since Sunday evening. The great thing about the NFL and fantasy football is that players get second chances all the time. Whether it be coming back from injuries, off-the-field issues, bad play - or all three. In the case of Willis McGahee and Javon Walker, will the third time be the charm? Read more
Reggie’s Knee Injury Could Be Serious…
October 19, 2008
Kim Kardashian wasn’t the only person who had her heart stop in Week 7 when Saints star RB (and her boyfriend) Reggie Bush went down with a knee injury during the Saints loss to the Carolina Panthers. Millions of fantasy owners experienced a similar feeling, as they have lost their star for a significant period of time. Read more

Brett Favre To Be Traded To Jets?
July 8, 2008
By now you’ve read plenty regarding former Packers QB Brett Favre and his potential return to the National Football League. SI’s Peter King recently reported that Favre’s agent Bus Cook could write a letter to Green Bay asking that Favre be removed from the reserved/retired list. It’s what would follow that remains a mystery. Read more
2008 Fantasy “X-Factors”
June 19, 2008
2008 is chalked full of guys that could go either way. Guys who are more than capable of putting up huge digits, but only if everything goes perfectly right. We call these guys Fantasy “X-Factors” due to the fact that a certain set of circumstances could spark them to light up the stat column and become a true difference maker. Philly’s Donovan McNabb, who has only played in 33 total games in three seasons since throwing for 3,800 yards and 31 TDs in 2004, is the perfect example of a Fantasy “X-Factor.” Read more
Javon Walker To Make Full Recovery…
June 19, 2008
Updating previous reports regarding the Javon Walker situation, Sirius NFL Radio reported last night that Walker has been released from the hospital and is on his way back to Oakland to rehab and continue his preparation for the 2008 regular season. Head coach Lane Kiffin then seemed optimistic with media about Walker being able to make a full recovery for the 2008 season.
This is great news, as he apparently dodged a huge bullet (figuratively). Still, we’re not crazy about him as more than a stretch WR3 option in 2008. We’ll continue to monitor Walker’s progress, as he’s definitely a fantasy x-factor due to his past stat lines.
Javon Walker Recovering & Rehabbing…
June 18, 2008
According to Rotoworld, Javon Walker’s agent issued a statement to the media saying that his client had already begun recovering and rehabbing. He suffered a concussion in the incident in Las Vegas on Monday, and reportedly has an orbital fracture and other noteworthy injuries.
We wish Javon the best - and it’s good news that he’s apparently in “recovery mode,” and we’re not saying he won’t play at all in 2008 - but we are definitely going on the record with our readers with the advice to avoid him at all costs in all league formats.
Javon Down - What Next?
June 18, 2008
We’re taking a break from analyzing our 18-round expert draft in this space, to look at a situation that occurred just two short nights ago, when Oakland Raiders WR Javon Walker was apparently mugged and robbed in Las Vegas, just off of the strip. Walker was found unconscious, with a fractured orbital bone, prior to being taken to a local hospital and treated. He was in fair condition originally, and could be released from the hospital soon, but what happened, and what happens next remain strikingly unclear. Read more
Walker In Jeopardy - We Love Maroney…
June 17, 2008
By now, you’ve heard what happened to Oakland Raiders WR Javon Walker, one of the NFL’s highest paid pass catchers. Walker and his fantasy owners had high hopes for a comeback season after an injury-riddled 2007 campaign in Denver. QB JaMarcus Russell was reportedly developing solid chemistry with him, and even though head coach Lane Kiffin was concerned about his conditioning, he was all be guaranteed a starting role heading into 2008. Now, he must fight back from an orbital fracture, and a bruised ego. Will he be able to comeback to the field, like former Seahawks FS Ken Hamlin did after a similar incident at a nightclub? Or, will he be done for the season? Read more
Javon Walker Situation: Will He Play In 2008?
June 17, 2008
Raiders WR Javon Walker was found unconscious just outside the Las Vegas strip early Monday morning, as the victim of an apparent robbery, according to Rotoworld.
Although Walker - one of the NFL’s top three highest paid WRs after signing with Oakland this off-season - is listed at an area hospital in fair condition, there are many reports that the has “significant injuries” including an orbital fracture.
We won’t comment now on the situation, but we will give our fantasy take. This is not good for Walker owners. Flat out - he may not play this year. Cowboys safety Ken Hamlin suffered head and neck injuries in a club altercation while playing with the Seahawks, and was miraculously able to recover and re-start his career, hopefully Walker will be as fortunate.
We wish the best for Walker, but at this point - with these injuries - football doesn’t appear to be in his immediate future, thus his fantasy value - dynasty and otherwise - is in serious jeopardy.
Ronald Curry would likely step in and replace Walker in Oakland’s starting line-up, while Drew Carter would see an increased role as well.
Giants Finger-Pointing Over Burress’ Absence…
June 13, 2008
Rotoworld reports Giants center Shaun O’Hara publicly critized WR Plaxico Burress for not practice while trying to negotiate a new contract.
Come on! First of all, you guys won the freaking Super Bowl last season. Secondly, Burress says he played through a few injuries last season that would’ve put most folks on injured reserve immediately. Lastly, we all saw what happened to Javon Walker in 2005 in Green Bay. Walker reported to camp after Brett Favre criticized him, only to blow out his ACL in Week 1. Walker was making less than $1 million a year at the time. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but give Plax a break.
Javon Walker Lashes Out At Broncos…
June 9, 2008
Reportedly, former Broncos WR Javon Walker has spoken out against Denver, telling the media that they misused him last season. This doesn’t come as a surprise, but what we find funny is that Walker is making threats at his former team, but we’re not impressed with the threats.
He recently told media that the Broncos would “see (him)” on September 8, the season opener for both squads. Well, we hope so. By “see me,” we’re wondering if Walker forgot a few words. “In the endzone” perhaps? Or maybe, “catch 11 balls for 140 yards.” If he just meant “on the field” then that’s not very exciting.
Apparently Walker was fired up when he made the comments, and one thing was apparently clear - he is happy to be out of Denver. Question - has anyone told him that he plays for the Raiders?
