Impact: Marques Colston Out 4-6 Weeks
September 10, 2008
We knew something was up. The Saints just don’t throw for 343 yards and three TDs, spreading the ball around the field, and only get their best receiver the ball three times for 26 yards. As it turns out, Marques Colston was injured, and has undergone thumb surgery that will keep him out four to six weeks. What should fantasy owners expect as a result of this? Read more
Drew Brees Is Fantasy’s Number 1 QB
August 27, 2008
For years, Indy’s Peyton Manning has held the distinction, and heading into 2008, nearly every fantasy owner on the planet would tell you that Tom Brady has taken the title of being fantasy football’s top quarterback, following his record breaking 50 TD season in 2007. However, I strongly believe that New Orleans’ Drew Brees could capture the crown in 2008. Read more
Fantasy Impact: Jonathan Vilma
July 31, 2008
Winning an IDP Fantasy Football league can be much easier that it sounds - if you develop a solid strategy. Don’t worry, this one won’t hurt your brain - it’s simple - let other owners waste early picks on high-priced individual defensive players, while you hoard invaluable offensive studs, and let IDP sleepers fall to you in the late rounds. Step one - identifying the best IDP sleepers. Read more
Pierre Thomas To Contribute In 2008?
July 14, 2008
Our sources are extremely high on New Orleans Saints back-up running back Pierre Thomas heading into 2008. Even though Deuce McAllister appears likely to be healthy enough to regain the starting role heading into Week 1, and Reggie Bush has a fire lit like never before, find out why Thomas has a fantasy football future. Brett Favre To Be Traded To Jets?
July 8, 2008
By now you’ve read plenty regarding former Packers QB Brett Favre and his potential return to the National Football League. SI’s Peter King recently reported that Favre’s agent Bus Cook could write a letter to Green Bay asking that Favre be removed from the reserved/retired list. It’s what would follow that remains a mystery. Read more
Travis Henry Cut: Now What?
June 3, 2008
So, just more than a year after Travis Henry signed with the Denver Broncos, he’s out on the street looking for a job. He was anointed by many fantasy owners as a 1,500 yard rusher heading into 2007, but ended up being an extreme disappointment, rushing for only 691 yards and four TDs. With that in mind, what makes anyone think the 30 year old has any hope for the future? Read more
Saints Set At Running Back…
June 2, 2008
Despite the release of Travis Henry, and the rumors that New Orleans was interested in Shaun Alexander earlier this off-season, we’ve heard that Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis are very happy with the progress of Deuce McAllister and the fire that they’ve seen from Reggie Bush.
Bush recently made some positive comments about wanting to get into the Saints facility this off-season and work his butt off. We expect improvement from Bush in year three, and for Deuce to end up being a solid fantasy RB3 in 2008.
Marques Colston Is Practicing Well…
June 2, 2008
You may not have heard this, but the 25 year old Colston - who is entering his third season - had his knee scoped this off-season, as well as some bone chips removed from his knee.
His dynasty owners shouldn’t worry though, as the 6′5″ beast has been practicing without restrictions or setbacks. He should be 100 percent healthy by training camp, and a top five receiver in 2008.
Deuce McAllister Works Well In Practice…
May 31, 2008
29 year old Saints RB Deuce McAllister went through about a third of Saints practice yesterday, and reportedly looked solid doing it.
Rotoworld still puts a negative spin on McAllister’s value, saying he’s not guaranteed a Week 1 roster spot, but we respectfully disagree. We’ve heard that Sean Payton is high on him, and we think he has solid late round seasonal sleeper value.
Adrian Arrington Could Start In 2008
May 26, 2008
You know that No-Offseason.com is always looking out for fantasy super sleepers, and we believe we’ve found a solid candidate in Saints WR Adrian Arrington. The 6′3″ WR has not only looked very impressive in early practices, but there also appears to be a very solid reason for why he fell into the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Read more
Devery Henderson May Get Cut…
May 26, 2008
Word is that Saints WR Devery Henderson is not guaranteed a roster spot in 2008. Robert Meachem and Adrian Arrington appear to be the most fantasy worthy WRs on the Saints roster other than Marques Colston at this point. Sorry, but we don’t really like David Patten or Lance Moore much either.
Saints Extremely High On Arrington…
May 25, 2008
No-Offseason.com is hearing that the Saints believe 7th round pick Adrian Arrington will be a key contributor in 2008, and possibly even earn a starting role opposite Marques Colston. The 6′3″ WR from U-M left early for the NFL due to the retirement of former college coach Lloyd Carr, and could end up being the biggest hidden gem in this year’s draft class. In practices thus far, he has been able to physically overwhelm Saints corners, and has garnered the attention of head coach Sean Payton, who believes he has an extremely high ceiling. He’s definitely someone to watch in all formats, especially dynasty leagues.
At this point, Arrington should be considered a solid second round sleeper in all dynasty rookie drafts, and a potentially early waiver wire gem in seasonal formats - just like Colston was in 2006.
The Saints have also been impressed with the progress of last year’s first round pick Robert Meachem, who missed all of 2007 with a knee injury.
