What type of league do you play in? Is it a typical seasonal league, run through a cookie cutter league hosting site like ESPN.com or Yahoo! If so, that’s fine, but you’re missing out. Here at No-Offseason.com, we’ll help you win your fantasy football league regardless of your format. However, we love to emphasize dynasty fantasy football prospects. Read more
Plax Too Good For Team, Suspended One Game…
September 24, 2008
Giants WR Plaxico Burress is a different kind of guy. He’s a He-Man. He pretty much does what he wants, when he wants, and this time his actions caught up to him.
After showing his teammates that he basically thinks he’s better than them by not reporting to the Giants’ facility on Monday or Tuesday - and not returning phone calls from team officials - Burress was suspended for one game by the front office and head coach Tom Coughlin.
Fantasy owners will be without Burress both this week (NYG’s bye), and next week against Seattle. Plax will return in Week 6 at Cleveland, and likely be a must-start. Expect Amani Toomer and Steve Smith to pick up the slack in his absence.
Keep An Eye On Kiwanuka (and Strahan)
August 27, 2008
Giants star defensive end Osi Umenyiora went down this past weekend with a season ending MCL tear, leaving a huge gap at defensive end for the New York Giants. With Justin Tuck replacing the retired Michael Strahan, the Giants are now looking to either veteran Renaldo Wynn, or third year man Mathias Kiwanuka to fill in for Osi. But will a familiar number 92 enter the fray also? Read more
Don’t Forget “The Other Steve Smith”
August 11, 2008
Fantasy owners have been enamored with a certain Steve Smith since his phenomenal breakout 2005 campaign, however, we’ve looked heavily into some potential second year sleeper WRs, and heading into 2008 it looks like the Giants’ second year man with the same name could turn some heads. Read more
NYG: Bradshaw released from jail
July 14, 2008
Ahmad Bradshaw Is NFL’s Latest Jail Bird…
June 19, 2008
Many fantasy owners were freaking gung-ho about Giants rookie RB Ahmad Bradshaw towards the end of the 2007 season. We weren’t - for many reasons. Now, it appears that Bradshaw has been locked up for violating probation. Apparently he has been in jail since Father’s Day, June 15. It’s unknown whether or not the NFL will suspend him, but it may not matter, because he’s nothing more than Brandon Jacobs’ occasional back-up anyway.
Don’t count on Bradshaw as more than a flier in points per reception leagues.
Jeremy Shockey Wants To Be Traded…
June 17, 2008
ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio told Sirius NFL Radio this morning that he believes Giants TE Jeremy Shockey’s actions blatantly suggest that he wants to be traded and is trying to force his way out of New York.
Shockey has recently criticized middle management, and refused to practice at mandatory mini-camp last week. Surprise, surprise, Shockey’s agent is Drew Rosenhaus. Paolantonio went on to say that he believes there is regret shared by both the Giants and Shockey with regards to not being dealt to the Saints in April, for a reported second (2008) and fifth (2009) round draft choice, and that his value is much lower now than it was in April, due to the fact that the Giants may “have to trade Shockey.”
Paolantonio covered the Giants mini-camp last week for ESPN, and also chimed in about the Plaxico Burress contract situation, saying he thinks Plax made a tactical error by kicking and screaming at practice last week about not having a deal done yet, when Jerry Reese is negotiating in good faith with Rosenhaus.
We see this all working out by training camp. Plax will have a deal done and be a solid fantasy WR2. Shockey will stay with the Giants and regain his spot as a solid fantasy TE1 in 2008.
Giants Finger-Pointing Over Burress’ Absence…
June 13, 2008
Rotoworld reports Giants center Shaun O’Hara publicly critized WR Plaxico Burress for not practice while trying to negotiate a new contract.
Come on! First of all, you guys won the freaking Super Bowl last season. Secondly, Burress says he played through a few injuries last season that would’ve put most folks on injured reserve immediately. Lastly, we all saw what happened to Javon Walker in 2005 in Green Bay. Walker reported to camp after Brett Favre criticized him, only to blow out his ACL in Week 1. Walker was making less than $1 million a year at the time. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but give Plax a break.
Jeremy Shockey Still Unhappy…
June 12, 2008
CBSSports.com is reporting that Jeremy Shockey stayed inside during all portions of practice today, and did not talk to the media. Shockey recently vented at a charity event about the Giants organization.
Is it a coincidence that all of Drew Rosenhaus’ boys are acting up right now? Shockey and Chad Johnson are in virtually identical situations, nursing fake injuries and using them as an excuse to sit out and pout at mandatory practices.
Who really cares though? In the end, both of these guys will start Week 1 for their respective teams and fantasy owners will forget all of this drama.
Brandon Jacobs Participates Fully In Practice…
June 11, 2008
Giants 6′4″ starting running back Brandon Jacobs was a full participant in Giants practice today. This is great news for his keeper owners, as he had some sort of wrist procedure done earlier in the off-season.
We believe Big BJ will be healthy this year, and that Ahmad Bradshaw and Derrick Ward are minimal threats to his fantasy value. Jacobs has a very high ceiling, which we love about him.
Plaxico Burress To Hold Out?
June 11, 2008
It doesn’t seem likely that the number one receiver for the defending Super Bowl Champions would hold out of training camp because of a contract dispute, but Plaxico Burress showed up to Giants practice today “for business reasons” but didn’t participate. He told media that he’s healthy enough to practice, but wouldn’t take the field until his contract situation is all worked out.
He did not seem pleased with his current deal, and did not guarantee that he’d attend training camp if it were still in place by the end of July.
Strahan & Benson Out - Tuck & Forte In
June 10, 2008
Yesterday was a huge news day in the NFL, just another example of why there is no offseason. Giants DE Michael Strahan actually made a freaking decision and decided to call it a career at the age of 36, and a former fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft named Cedric Benson was released by the Chicago Bears, after three disappointing seasons and two arrests in the span of 30 days. Yeah, these stories are interesting, but what fantasy owners really want to know is - what happens now that these guys are gone? Read more
