September 10, 2008

Impact: Marques Colston Out 4-6 Weeks We knew something was up. The Saints just don’t throw for 343 yards and three TDs, spreading the ball around the field, and only get their best receiver the ball three times for 26 yards. As it turns out, Marques Colston was injured, and has undergone thumb surgery that will keep him out four to six weeks. What should fantasy owners expect as a result of this? Read more

“Slot RBs” Are Becoming All The Rage

June 20, 2008

Slot RBs Are Becoming All The RageIt started a couple years ago when the New Orleans Saints had versatile running back Reggie Bush “fall” to them at number two overall in the 2006 NFL Draft. The trend I’m referring to of course is running backs that play wide receiver more than they do halfback - aka “slot RBs.” Our sources around the NFL have confirmed that more and more teams will start using their back-up RBs as slot receivers, in an effort to add more explosive elements to throw off opposing defenses. Walker In Jeopardy - We Love Maroney…

June 17, 2008

By now, you’ve heard what happened to Oakland Raiders WR Javon Walker, one of the NFL’s highest paid pass catchers. Walker and his fantasy owners had high hopes for a comeback season after an injury-riddled 2007 campaign in Denver. QB JaMarcus Russell was reportedly developing solid chemistry with him, and even though head coach Lane Kiffin was concerned about his conditioning, he was all be guaranteed a starting role heading into 2008. Now, he must fight back from an orbital fracture, and a bruised ego. Will he be able to comeback to the field, like former Seahawks FS Ken Hamlin did after a similar incident at a nightclub? Or, will he be done for the season? Read more

June 5, 2008

In June, there aren’t many factors that can really make a huge difference in a player’s fantasy value, but we keep our Stock Market Report popping anyway. Certain guys are really shining in organized team activities, while others are faltering or experiencing off-the-field issues of concern. Some teams also elect to cut the fat in certain areas, potentially creating solid opportunities for other guys on the squad. Lastly, sometimes contract situations that become resolved this time of year can shed a whole new light on players. Read more

Saints Set At Running Back…

June 2, 2008

Despite the release of Travis Henry, and the rumors that New Orleans was interested in Shaun Alexander earlier this off-season, we’ve heard that Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis are very happy with the progress of Deuce McAllister and the fire that they’ve seen from Reggie Bush.

Bush recently made some positive comments about wanting to get into the Saints facility this off-season and work his butt off. We expect improvement from Bush in year three, and for Deuce to end up being a solid fantasy RB3 in 2008.
