The 2021-2022 NBA Season ended last June 18, 2022, when the Golden State Warriors reclaimed their glory, becoming the World Champions again. Last season was a heck of a ride for basketball fans across the globe, where it was full of emotions, unforgettable moments, and the rising of new stars from different franchises. Moreover, it's one of the best seasons in the NBA since 2018-2019, as fans are back again in the stadium.
With the recent news circling the NBA, it's safe to say that it will be a full-blown season as more teams are getting stronger and better. To know which franchises are in the spotlight of becoming champions, below are some teams that look good this 2022-2023 NBA Season.
Golden State Warriors
First on the list is none other than the current NBA champions, the Golden State Warriors. This franchise is one of the legendary teams in history, having the best record, 73-9 in the regular season and 7 NBA Championships. Furthermore, they have talented players like Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, making their NBA Finals Odds even better for the upcoming season.
Besides the trio's performance and leadership in the past few years, new names have also emerged for the franchise. Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole hugely impacted their championship run with the Warriors last season, making them instant franchise stars.
In addition, the Golden State Warriors gave birth to their new death lineup last playoffs, which became a key to winning the first-round playoffs. With more time to perfect this lineup and strategy, it will become an unstoppable arsenal for Steve Kerr as teams cannot beat it so far. If so, the Golden Dynasty will once again continue for a repeat this 2023 season.
Second on the list is Lob City, known as the Los Angeles Clippers. The team fell short in entering the playoffs last season. With the absence of their star player Kawhi Leonard due to an ACL injury, the season was not in favor of the Clippers. In addition, Paul George was also absent from their last game for a chance of entering the playoffs due to COVID problems.
However, this upcoming season will greatly change this franchise as Kawhi Leonard is back from his injury. In addition, it will be the return of their dynamic duo with Paul George, making them one of the contending teams this 2023. Having the two-time MVP back on the roster increases their chances as his unfathomable skills are a massive threat to other teams.
Regarding roster changes, the Clippers were able to add John Wall, a former all-star who is looking to redeem himself from a plague-ridden career.. Adding him to the lineup alongside George and Kawhi will instantly make the franchise a powerhouse in the NBA.
Third on the list is the Memphis Grizzlies. They were one of the contending teams for an NBA title last season. Their incredible performance in the playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors discovered their potential to become a great team in the League. Furthermore, even the MVP, Steph Curry, admitted they had a hard time with this team and even agreed they would become a problem in the upcoming season.
The ceiling is only getting higher for Jah Morant and the young core of the Memphis Grizzlies. Even though they’re young, they’re hungry, and they’re getting better by the day. Look for this energetic young team to make a huge splash yet again in the upcoming season.
The fourth team on the list is the Philadelphia 76ers. Last season, the team fell short despite adding James Harden during the offseason. However, despite losing in the playoffs, the team has shown incredible potential.
Having Harden alongside Joel Embiid did an excellent job for the franchise in such a short time. Even Though there were backlashes against the Beard, he showed the fans that he has changed and is more focused on winning. The two have shown chemistry last season, and with time and effort, it will become stronger and better.
Lastly is the Boston Celtics. After a brutal loss in the NBA finals, fans questioned the team for their performance. Fans believed they could've done better against the Golden State Warriors despite being awarded the best Defensive Team in the League. However, they are still contenders for the title as the roster is still young and has more room for development.
Especially with Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown, they still had an outstanding performance in the playoffs. They will become stronger and more mature with the experience they gain in the finals. Although rumors are dying down about a Kevin Durant acquisition, the Celtics still have a formidable lineup that’s postseason and championship ready.
This October is just the start of an incredible season this 2023. Apart from these mentioned franchises above, there are more teams to look out for, like the Pelicans with Zion Williamson, Mavericks with Luka Doncic, and many more. Year after year, the season keeps getting better. So, get your popcorn, jerseys, and banners ready, and together let's enjoy this 2023 with a blast!
