$20 PLAY OF THE DAY: KYLE TRASK KYLE TRASK OVERVIEW Trask was drafted in the 2nd round (pick 64) of the 2021 NFL Draft. After a successful run as the Florida Gator’s QB, Trask has yet to take any meaningful snaps during his first two seasons, learning behind Tom Brady. That is likely to change upon Brady’s retirement, and the Bucs choosing not to draft another QB in the 2023 NFL Draft. WHY I LIKE KYLE TRASK OPPORTUNITY – HE’S GONNA GET A FEW STARTS Lets be clear: we are not under some delusion that Kyle Trask is going to shine as an NFL QB. But that does not mean that you cannot make money from his opportunity. The Buccaneers are a mess. This offensively challenged squad looked terrible last year despite the fact that some guy named Tom Brady was under center. The signing of Baker Mayfield signals the waving of the white flag before the season has begun. All signs are pointing to a total tank job by the Bucs. Perhaps Baker wins the job out of training camp, but he is NOT their future. Bottom line, Kyle Trask is going to get a crack at the starting nod at some time during the 2023 season. And when he does, wise investors will cash out upon the news. Listen, we in no way shape or form think that Kyle Trask is a good QB. But anytime a young QB gets a shot at a starting spot, you can expect a hype spike. A good example of this last year was Sam Ehlinger. Sam was named the Indianapolis Colts starter in late November. His cards instantly spiked upon this news. His Contenders Rookie Ticket Auto which was averaging sales around $35, ballooned to as much as $220! There were 12 sales of this card during the week of Sam’s promotion, all of which sold for over $100. That last sale of that Ehlinger sold for under $4. Here’s the point… the announcement of a starting young QB produces crazy spikes. Trask could be this year’s Sam Ehlinger. THE PLAY While you could invest big money into a Trask auto, we will stick to our $20 theme. We encourage you to stick with the flagship products of Prizm and Optic. Specifically, you can pick up Silver Prizms for under $10 and can find Optic Holos for under $5. I encourage you to pick up a few and wait patiently for the Bucs to announce his first start. Then sell, sell, sell! Do not wait for him to snap the ball. Additionally, if Baker wins the job out of camp, look for Trask cards to fall in price. If so, look for opportunities to pounce on some higher quality Trask rookie cards. He’s going to get his chance. THE RISK Um. Zero? Hard to lose money on a $5 or $10 card. If you hold Trask and he flops (a legitimate possibility), you could lose a few bucks per card. No big deal. THE REWARD If you play your (Trask) cards right, investors stand to profit anywhere from a 2x to 5x on their investment. Best case scenario would be Trask taking over in the 2nd half of a game for an ineffective Baker Mayfield, causing lots of hype before his inevitable first start.
