This time of year, many sports cards start to dip naturally with the holidays approaching – and an election right around the corner – but inevitably, performance spikes provide many of us opportunities to sell sports cards and profit at surprising times. Big trades, deaths, controversial figures in pop culture resurrected due to documentaries or movies, and performance spikes definitely all move the needle in the sports card world. In the last week, the NBA saw a massive blockbuster deal that saw Julius Randle and Karl-Anthony Towns swap teams, a much too early passing of NBA Legend Dikembe Mutombo, the Menendez Brothers made another appearance on Netflix (Mark Jackson 1990 Hoops Card), and of course, guys like Derrick Henry, Kenneth Walker III and D’Andre Swift had big games. Last week saw the 2024 College Football Season start off with a bang of activity. Right along with the Week 1 hype came explosions in prices of Bowman Chrome University 1st Prospect Autos of some top stars, and yes, we saw this coming – so many of you are holding cards that we recommended you buy over the last 12 months that you should now be listing to sell for a profit if you haven’t already. We’re going into dig into the top college stars and their cards with the most price increase by dollar over the last 14 days. If you own any of the following cards, you should list them now in 7 or 10 day auctions or BIN/OBO formats. Even though football season is about to start, and NFL and college football cards are on the rise, player performance spikes make card values increase the most, and with baseball season still in full swing, three players in particular have seen their cards rise in value this week due to their solid performances. First is Dylan Crews, the second overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, who got the call-up to the big leagues this week in his first pro season. Crews has played well in his first week and his card prices have risen as a result. Next is the sure fire AL MVP, Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, who is on pace to break his own American League Home Run record and possibly even break the overall MLB record for HRs in a season.
