Sports Card Sell Alert: Malik Willis Cards Spike!
Contributed by Conner Barnett Since being drafted in the third round of the 2022 draft, Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Malik Willis has been ultimately a non-factor in the NFL. There were however high expectations from some for the dual threat quarterback, which in turn led to sports card investors stocking up on Willis prints in hopes of him excelling at the pro level helping to turn profits. Willis however has thrown just 66 passes since joining the Titans, with 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, leaving flippers in a position where they’ve had to decide how and when to recoup losses. Fortunately for those holding him, this weekend’s international series matchup that featured the Titans and Ravens resulted in Willis seeing playing time and showcasing solid improvements in limited snaps, and it created a window of opportunity to sell without taking losses. From ESPN.com: The Portland Trail Blazers are trading guard Damian Lillard to play to alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a three-team deal that also includes the Phoenix Suns, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday. Portland will receive Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, Milwaukee’s 2029 unprotected first-round draft pick, and unprotected Milwaukee swap rights in 2028 and 2030, sources told Wojnarowski. The Suns will receive Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little and Keon Johnson, sources told Wojnarowski. The deal comes months after Lillard formally requested to be traded in early July as the Blazers decided to take a patient approach to negotiations. From ESPN.com: The Tampa Bay Rays are calling up top infield prospect Junior Caminero, bolstering their roster for a stretch run that will cap one of the best seasons in franchise history, sources told ESPN. Caminero, who turned 20 in July, will make the jump from Double-A, where he ascended after 36 dominant games this season at High-A. Between the stops, Caminero is hitting .324/.384/.591 with 31 home runs and 94 RBIs in 117 games. A shortstop and third baseman, Caminero joins a Rays team that at 94-60 is 1½ games behind Baltimore for the American League East lead. The No. 5 prospect in Kiley McDaniel’s midseason rankings, Caminero is regarded for not just his offensive production but the elite exit velocities he has produced since the fortuitous November 2021 trade in which Tampa Bay acquired him from Cleveland for right-hander Tobias Myers.
